How do Empathy wines taste?

We’ve been working closely with our farmers and winemakers to craft wines we’re proud of, and think you will love. Here’s a taste of what to expect, based on the style of our wines.

    • Empathy Rosé: The ideal rosé has flexibility. It provides ample-refreshment and easy-gulping during a day by the pool, but the complexity to be paired perfectly alongside a raw bar or summer salad. Our goal with this wine is to balance the dry, bright acidity, with delicious red fruit flavors.  More details can be found on the current vintage rose tech sheet.
    • Empathy White Blend: A great white blend is like a musical performance. It brings together all the different aspects of music. Bass and Treble. Harmony and Melody. This wine is like a perfect symphony of flavors. The unique characteristics of Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, and Viognier all come together to produce a balanced wine that has refreshing acidity, fruit-filled and floral notes, and the weight to stand up to a whole range of foods.     • Empathy Red Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon provides the backbone for this wine, with complementary elements from Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Zinfandel. Full-bodied, bold and hearty. This wine will effortlessly transition from late summer barbecues by the grill, to chilly winter nights with a crockpot. More details can be found on the red blend tech sheet.
How is Empathy different from other wine club subscriptions?

We are a direct-to-consumer winery. What does that mean? We harvest the grapes, we make the wine, we send it directly to you. Unlike many other wine club offerings, we aren’t purchasing bulk juice and slapping our logo on the bottle. We also haven’t taken unwanted wines from a warehouse that aren’t selling, and throwing them into a cheapo “wine of the month” club. 

This wine is 100% made by us, made with Empathy. We’ve built relationships with top growers across Northern California in Lodi, Lake County, and Mendocino to find the best grapes for our rose, white, and red wine. Plus, shipping directly from the winery helps us ensure the quality of our product, while keeping the costs down for you.

What if I only want to buy one type of Empathy Wines, and not a subscription?

We allow one-time “a la carte” purchases of each individual wine style. We also have a “mixed pack” for the curious drinker that would like to sample 1 bottle of each current vintage wine. Shop here.

What is ‘Club Empathy’ and how do I become a member?

We offer 3 different tiers of “Club Empathy” wine club membership, which comes with various benefits. Read up on all those details here. Are your wines vegan?
Our wines are Vegan friendly because we don’t use any animal byproducts in the fining process. We are just not Vegan certified on our label.
Are your wines organic? Sustainably farmed?
We’re proud to partner with Growers who put such a priority on sustainability efforts, farming their vineyards with generations of grape growing in mind. We aren’t organically certified, but all growers resist use of unnecessary spraying and treatments, practice organic farming in many vineyard blocks, and never use glyphosate. We have 4 farmers we source from, and their sustainable growing practices slightly vary. Here’s a link to the page where we talk more about our farmers and their practices. Do your wines contain sulfites?
All wines contain some amount of sulfites because it’s a natural byproduct of fermentation. The amount of sulfites in our wine is well below the maximum and is just enough to make sure that our wine gets to you safely.
What does shipping cost for the 3, 6 and 12 bottle options?

We have flat rate shipping of $15 on all 3 bottle and 6 bottle orders. Shipping is on us when you order 12 bottles.

How long will it take to receive my package?
Shipping times typically range from 2-5 business days.
Once my order is shipped, how can I track my order?

We keep you updated every step of the way! A confirmation email will be sent to you with tracking information. If you have any additional questions or concerns regarding your package, please contact us.

Can I buy Empathy Wines anywhere else, like restaurants or wine shops?

Empathy Wines are mostly only available for shipping direct to you. Our wines will be featured by a select few restaurant partners across the United States. We’re currently only licensed and available to sell to NY restaurants.

Are you able to ship Internationally?

We’re fortunate to have found great partners in a few countries outside the United States.

VinoMofo is the exclusive online wine partner offering Empathy Wines in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. 

We are also available in some provinces of Canada through The Kolonaki Groups website.

We are unable to ship direct-to-you internationally at this time, but it’s something we’re working on for certain countries. Stay tuned.

Are there any States in the US that you cannot ship to?

We ship to the majority of US states. We love all the states and territories - but unfortunately we’re currently unable to ship to Arkansas, Alabama, Delaware, Kentucky, Mississippi, Rhode Island, and Utah.

 

Are there certain zip codes where Empathy Wines cannot ship?

There are some very specific “dry” zip codes in Florida, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and West Virginia that do not permit the shipment of wines.

Do I need an adult signature for my delivery of wines?
Someone 21+ years old must be home to sign for your wine shipment. We super-duper highly recommend having your package sent to a business address for signing, to ensure you get your wine with the first attempted delivery. Amid Covid, our preferred carriers have adjusted their protocol for your safety and provide contactless delivery. In other words, you’ll temporarily no longer be required to sign.
Can I ship to a work address or PO Box? Any other places I can ship my wine?

Yes, we can ship to business addresses. In fact, it’s the most reliable way to receive your wine! We are unable to deliver to PO Box addresses. All deliveries require a signature by someone 21+ years old. 


Our preferred carrier of choice is FedEx. If you won’t be home or are unable to sign for the package for some reason, FedEx’s Hold At Location services allow you to arrange for pickup at one of their nearby partner locations, such as FedEx Stores or Walgreens, on your terms.

I missed my FedEx deliveries after they attempted 3 times. Now what?

Don’t fret! After the 3-attempts the package will be held in the area for 10-days pending action, before it is returned to our facility. Someone 21+ needs to sign for the package.  If you are unavailable, you can log on to FedEx.com: http://fedex.com/ or call 1800GoFedEx (say 'hold package') for pickup locations near you. Please note that a valid form of ID is required upon pickup. Once held, most locations require pickup within 5 business days (one calendar week) before it is sent back to us.

If you do need to ‘redirect’ the package to another location, such as a business address, where someone 21+ will be available to sign for the package, please reach out to help@empathywines.com. ** Packages cannot be redirected between states**

Can I ship to multiple addresses?

While we are unable to split a single order, you can update your shipping address at any time in your Account Settings.

What do I do if the wine I receive is damaged? Or it’s missing a bottle?
We put the utmost care into packaging up and shipping your wines, but accidents happen from time to time, and there’s no use in crying over spilled wine. Please contact us if your package has a damaged or missing bottle and we’ll coordinate replacing it.
Can I return my wine if I’m not satisfied?
We hope you adore our wines! It’s a labor of love to source grapes and produce blends with this level of care and complexity, at such an approachable price point. If for any reason you’re dissatisfied, please contact us at help@empathywines.com. We’ll do our best to make it right. If it requires immediate assistance, you can also send us a chat. 
What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit and debit cards, and accept Apple Pay and Amazon Pay options. We also accept QuadPay, allowing you to finance and pay over 4 installments in two week increments. 

Club Empathy members can attach a preferred credit or debit card to their account anytime. Your payment options can be managed when logged into EmpathyWines.com as a member.

When will I be charged?
Payments for subscriptions are processed in three equal installments. The first payment is processed upon purchase. We will process each subsequent charge directly before shipping your next wine package. 
Will I be charged a sales tax?

Yes. While shipping is always included, sales tax varies by state. Your total will reflect the sales tax applied to your shipping area during checkout.
