How do Empathy wines taste?

We’ve been working closely with our farmers and winemakers to craft wines we’re proud of, and think you will love. While our wines are still in production, we can give you a “taste” of what to expect, based on the direction we’re heading...

    • Empathy Rosé: The ideal rosé has flexibility. It provides ample-refreshment and easy-gulping during a day by the pool, but the complexity and “seriousness” to be paired alongside a raw bar or summer salad. Our goal with this wine is to balance its dry, razor’s edge acidity, with delicious red fruit flavors.  A blend of several grapes, including Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Pinot Noir.
    • Empathy White: A pleasantly unusual, balanced blend of Vermentino for its bright citrus flavors and freshness, with Viognier for its beautiful floral aromas, plus Grenache Blanc for body.
    • Empathy Red: Cabernet Sauvignon provides the backbone for this wine, with complementary elements from Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Zinfandel. Full-bodied, bold and hearty. This wine will effortlessly transition from late summer barbecues by the grill, to chilly winter nights with a crockpot.
How is Empathy different from other wine club subscriptions?

We are a direct-to-consumer winery. What does that mean? We harvest the grapes, we make the wine, we send it directly to you. Unlike many other wine club offerings, we aren’t purchasing bulk juice and slapping our logo on the bottle. We also haven’t taken unwanted wines from a warehouse that aren’t selling, and throwing them into a cheapo “wine of the month” club.

This wine is 100% made by us, made with Empathy. We’ve built relationships with top growers across Northern California in Lodi, Lake County, and Mendocino to find the best grapes for our rose, white, and red wine. Plus, shipping directly from the winery helps us ensure the quality of our product, while keeping the costs down for you.

What if I only want to buy one type of Empathy Wines, and not a subscription?

As of now, we only offer subscription options. We hope you’ll enjoy all three of our wines! But if you’ve got a particular taste and only want certain styles, we may eventually have options for you.

Do you offer half bottles? Or if I want to go big, do you have Magnums?

No. For our first vintage we will only have one size available - a standard 750ml bottle. Please let us know if you’d be interested in other formats for future vintages!

Can I “try before I buy?”

Our wines are still fermenting and aging! 2018 is our first vintage, and not yet available for tastings. Be sure to sign up for our mailing list to hear about Empathy Wines tasting events we’ll host around the country.

What is ‘Club Empathy’ and how do I become a member?

What does shipping cost for the 3, 6 and 12 bottle options?

Shipping is always included with every order. You never pay more.

When can I expect my order?

Our wines are still in production - fermenting, aging, and blending. Empathy Wines are a labor of love. Like so many good things, the bottles take time to make. We will keep you updated every step of the way. We are anticipating the following timeline for our wines to ship to you.

  • Rose:  Early Spring 2019.
  • White: Early Summer 2019.
  • Red: Fall 2019
My wine arrived broken. How can I get a replacement?
Oh no! There’s no use in crying over broken wine. Please email help@empathywines.com for assistance and, we’ll contact you to make it right.
Once my order is shipped, how can I track my order?

We keep you updated every step of the way! A confirmation email will be sent to you with tracking information. If you decide to opt-in for text-notifications at sign up, you also receive updates as the shipping status changes. If you have any additional questions or concerns regarding your package please contact us.

Can I return my wine?
We are proud of our wines, and want to make sure you have the best experience drinking them. If for some reason you are not satisfied with your order, please email help@empathywines.com.
Can I buy Empathy Wines anywhere else, like restaurants or wine shops?

Empathy Wines are mostly only available for shipping direct to you. Our wines will be featured by a select few restaurants across the United States.

Are you able to ship Internationally?

We are unable to ship internationally at this time, but it’s something we’re working on. Sign up for our email list, and be the first to know when we go global.

Are there any States in the US that you cannot ship to?

We ship to the majority of US states, which have laws permitting shipment of wine directly to consumers. We love all the US states and territories, but unfortunately we’re unable to ship to Arkansas, Alabama, Delaware, Kentucky, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, and Utah. If you live in one of these states, but would like to send the shipment to an address in a permitted state, you are able to do so. Also, please note that Empathy Wines is not permitted to ship to Puerto Rico. 

Are there certain zip codes where Empathy Wines cannot ship?

The short answer is yes. There are specific “dry” zip codes in Florida, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and West Virginia that do not permit the shipment of wines.

Do I need an adult signature for my delivery of wines?
Someone 21+ years old must be home to sign for your wine shipment. We super-duper highly recommend having your package sent to a business address for signing, to ensure you get your wine with the first attempted delivery.
Can I ship to a work address or PO Box?

Yes, we can ship to business address. In fact, it’s the most reliable way to receive your wine! We are unable to deliver to PO Box addresses. All deliveries require a signature by someone 21+ years old.

Can I ship to multiple addresses?

While we are unable to split a single order, you can update your shipping address at anytime in your Account Settings.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit and debit cards. We also accept Apple Pay and Amazon Pay.

You are able to add a new credit or debit card to your account at anytime by going to "My Account".
When will I be charged?
Payments for subscriptions are processed in three equal installments. The first payment is processed upon purchase. We will process each subsequent charge directly before shipping your next wine package.  
Will I be charged a sales tax?

Yes. While shipping is always included, sales tax varies by state. Your total will reflect the sales tax applied to your shipping area during checkout.
